Anushka made her debut as an actor in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan. As a screen test for her, she refused to do an impromptu one and took a day to prepare herself. Then, she signed on for three movies in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. She portrayed a bride who was young and tied to a man in middle age (the role that Shah Rukh Khan was portraying). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka played Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the film Badmash Company. The film was met with mixed receptions. Anushka Sharma was in the movie "Band Baaja Baaraat. The actress played a Punjabi woman in the middle classes who runs her own wedding business. The movie got positive reviews. Anushka's three-film deal with Yash Raj Films ended with Band Baaja Baraat.
